  • Eligibility for graduation :

  • Aspirants who have cleared their 10+2 from any stream (Science/Commerce/Arts) can pursue a Fashion Design course at the graduation level.

  • some of the very reputed colleges and institutions also conduct an entrance test for admission.

  • B.Des : B.Des. in Fashion Design is a 4-year undergraduate course, the minimum eligibility for which is a Higher Secondary Certificate (10+2) qualification with a minimum aggregate score of 50%. The program is spread over 8 semesters, with the final semester being based on the candidate’s chosen stream of study.

  • The course’s focus is on providing candidates greater exposure to the complexities and nuances of different segments of the Apparel Industry. Designers learn to integrate design elements within appropriate social, cultural, ethical and environmental contexts.

  • B.Sc.Fashion Design : Bachelor of science in fashion design is three years duration and an undergraduate Fashion Designing course. It covers the study of creating original designs which involves converting artistic talent and creating  products like clothing,textiles,jewellery and other accessories .It also includes a detailed study of the ever-changing market trends and the related fashion.

  • B.Sc .Fashion Technology : B.Sc. in Fashion Technology is a full-time, 3-year long undergraduate course.The course involves advanced study of the art of the application of design and aesthetics to clothing and accessories.

  • Fashion Technology is concerned with the art of manufacturing cloth material that is both pleasing to eye and pleasant to wear. The course has been designed to familiarize enrolled students with core garment manufacturing technologies, and their many applications. 

  • Eligibility for Fashion Technology : 

  • Candidates wishing to pursue B.Sc. in Fashion Technology are required to fulfill the below-mentioned minimum eligibility criteria.

  • A minimum aggregate score of 55% at the levels of Senior and Higher Secondary Examinations (classes X and XII), completed from a recognized educational Board.

  • The Senior Secondary Examination (class XII) needs to have been qualified in preferably, the Science Stream, with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology as the main subjects. (Commerce students accepted in some cases.)

  • Entrance Exams : 

  • NIFT : National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) conducts NIFT entrance exam in order to shortlist aspirants for admission in design programmes offered by it.

  • NIFT entrance exam pattern is three tiered in its format for BDes and MDes course admissions. As part of the NIFT entrance exam 2019 candidates need to first appear for Creative Ability Test (CAT) which is followed by a General Ability Test (GAT). The final admission round for BDes course is a Situation Test and that for MDes is GD/PI round. On the other hand, for BFTech course admissions candidates need to appear for GAT only whereas for MFTech and MFM programmes candidates need to appear for GAT and GD/PI admission round.

  • NID : NID Entrance Exam is conducted by National Institute of Design (NID) which is internationally acclaimed as one of the finest educational and research institutions for Industrial, Communication, Textile and IT Integrated (Experiential) Design.

  • Consists of three stages – Written Exam (Prelims and Mains), Studio Test and Personal Interview Round. 2019. 

  • Those candidates who qualify the written exam by clearing NID 2019 Cut-Off will be called for the studio test and personal interview.

  • The second stage involves a studio test of 100 marks which includes drawing/sketching, modelling and group discussion.

  • In the third stage, an Interview is conducted immediately after the studio test at the same center. A final NID Merit List of selected candidates is prepared after this round.
